Introducing Bespoke Piano Commissions from Piano Hive
There are some moments in life that a photograph can't quite capture and words fall short of describing. A wedding walk down the aisle. The memory of someone you've lost. That's why we're incredibly excited to announce that Piano Hive is now taking commissions for original piano pieces.
Music, Written Just for You
If you've followed our work, you'll know we write in the contemporary piano tradition — the kind of emotive, cinematic sound you'll find in Einaudi, Chopin, and Yiruma. Music that doesn't just play in the background, but sits with you, tells a story, and stays with you long after the last note fades.
Now, we want to write that story for you.

You Can Be Part of the Process
This isn't a case of sending us a brief and disappearing until the piece is finished — although you're welcome to do that too, if you'd rather leave it entirely in our hands. But if you want to be involved, we'd love to have you.
You can guide us through the process as much as you like: talking us through the mood you're picturing, the dynamics, the pace, the emotional arc of the piece — quiet and reflective, or building to something soaring and triumphant. Every conversation, every detail you share, becomes part of the composition. It's a genuinely collaborative way of creating something meaningful.
Why Piano Hive?
Between us, we bring two very different but complementary backgrounds to every commission. James has written music for television, music that has to serve a story and an emotion on cue. Janette's background is in film scoring and jazz composition, bringing depth, harmonic colour, and improvisational instinct to every piece.
Together, we've written over 100 original pieces and released ten piano books — so when it comes to writing something new for you, we're drawing on a huge well of experience in exactly this style of music.
A Piece That Lives On
Once your piece is finished, it doesn't have to stay a private recording tucked away on a phone. We can help you release it properly — uploading it to Spotify, iTunes, and other major streaming platforms, so your piece has its own permanent home in the world. You'll be able to share it with family and friends, revisit it whenever you like, and know that it will still be there for years to come.
